It was at a viewpoint on the Yorke Peninsula on Saturday the 28th of September 2013 when Marco expressed his desire to make wine himself. Jan jumped on the idea because this was an idea he has been playing with as well!
In April 2014 we managed to get everything organised to pick the grapes. We only learned later that this is rather late and we were lucky to still get some grapes. Because of our late harvest, the grapes did not contain a lot of juice, but probably contained enough sugar to guarantee a Shiraz with a decent alcohol percentage.
Not everything went as planned and multiple times we had to use our mobile devices to figure out what to do next... The end result was not bad at all however. And although we were afraid the wine would not cellar well, we were proven wrong here as well. The DVS 2014 Shiraz is a wine that improved over years and everyone still in the possession of a bottle should cherish it and enjoy the wine at a special occassion...
